Cape woman to tackle New York City Marathon for charity

On November 3rd, along with 50 000 athletes from around the world, Philippa Dods will be competing in the largest marathon in the world – the New York City Marathon, using this platform to campaign for Nonceba.

On November 3rd, along with 50 000 athletes from around the world, Philippa Dods will be competing in the largest marathon in the world – the New York City Marathon.

As one of the lucky 30 South Africans to get an entry, Philippa Dods is using this platform to campaign for Nonceba – a safe haven for mothers and children that have been raped and sexually abused in Khayelitsha, Cape Town’s biggest township.

An advocate for women empowerment, Philippa is also passionate about using business and technology for social change and is continuously working to achieve gender parity.

Driven by the ambition to tackle injustice and end gender-based violence in South Africa, Philippa Dods will be at the start line of the Ironman 70.3 Durban this Sunday the 2nd of June 2019.

A few months ago, I set myself two personal goals to finish the Ironman 70.3 within the cut-off time of 8 hours and 30 minutes, and to raise R50,000 within one month for Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust.
