About Philippa

Philippa Dods is a Marketing Professional, Public Speaker, Empowerment Activist, Marathon Runner and Triathlete. 

 

Philippa manages the Marketing strategy and operations for the African region of global media intelligence SaaS company, Meltwater. Over 30,000 of the world’s most respected brands rely on Meltwater to help inform their marketing and communications strategies and executive decision making, with an all-in-one solution powered by AI-driven insights. 

 

Here, she manages the field marketing activities for the region of Africa, driving several key lead-generation initiatives - such as events and webinars, PR and communications, social media, content marketing, growth marketing, reporting and analytics - across 54 countries. She also leads the digital events strategy for Meltwater EMEA (Europe, UK, Middle East, India and Africa). 

 

Philippa is also an HQ member and shareholder at Future Females, an organisation working to increase the number and success of female entrepreneurs around the world. This is achieved through the Future Females Business School, a virtual business incubator, and the Future Females Founders Club, an online portal for female founders to collaborate, learn and succeed. 

 

She is currently the Director at Future Females Foundation, a non-profit organisation working to empower women around the world by combating gender-based violence and discrimination. The Future Females Foundation is technology-enabled, education-focused and community-driven, working on preventative as well as protective solutions that are safe, scalable and sustainable. 

 

Philippa is a member of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, which is a network of youth driving dialogue, action and change in their communities. She is the Project Lead for the End Gender-Based Violence Project, where she leads initiatives to end domestic and sexual violence in Cape Town, and is the Head of Stakeholder Relations Portfolio, where she manages partnerships and relationships with various stakeholders of the Global Shapers Community. 

 

An advocate for women empowerment, Philippa is passionate about using business and technology for social change. She is continuously working to achieve gender equality, particularly through initiatives that put an end to gender-based violence, and recently completed the Ironman 70.3 and the New York City Marathon - using both races to raise funds for local social justice nonprofit organisations.

 

Philippa was nominated for Inspiring50 in 2019 and 2020 - recognising South Africa’s most inspiring women - and nominated for Young Achiever of the Year and Influencer of the Year at the Top Empowerment Awards 2019, and Top Young Achiever Awards at the Standard Bank Top Women's Awards 2020. She is a selected Women For Change (WFC) Ambassador, and is also an honouree of Seven Percent Tribe.
